More signs and a witches hat

Been a funny day I have been convinced its been Thursday all day even to the point I wasn't expecting anyone home til after 4 and when Bethany came home at just after 3pm I nearly had a heart attack!! We have spent the last few hours in Dollyland which has been nice. I love how she comes up there with me its great girlie time and we do have a laugh! She has made me some more signs for the village, one for the vintage shop and some for the beach stall. Love the price list it always amazes me how a few graphics bring something to life! She also made one for my good friend Debs Lobster pot cottage as we have been promising her one for ages lol!

  I also decorated a little witches hat Bethany bought me for Christmas. I had a few odd bits and bobs which have snazzed it up nicely, my favourite part are the little googly eyes you cant see them too well but they actually giggle about. It will now be for sale at treble the price in the witches shop as its now a one off designer piece!

Too many ideas and lovely shabby chic things.

Not much min'ing to report so far this week as I have a head full of ideas for my new house and can't seem to get inspired with anything else at the mo! Julie is hard at work on Seashell Cottage plus another little project which I will keep as a surprise for now! Chatting with Julie we have decided to go with whitewashed floorboards for a different look to my other cottages as I really fancy doing this one in a proper shabby chic style rather than the more girlie stuff I did in Seaview. So at the moment I am thinking of moving Amelia and her stuff into Seashell and Angela into Seaview! The property world in Quayside is a very fast paced one!

Got lots of ideas for distressed looking furniture and been trawling all the usual suspects for ideas. Ebay has not much and what it does have is expensive and could easily be achieved with a little thought. Etsy has lots more but some of the prices make your eyes water. Came across a lovely website today which had some really pretty shabby chic items for what I felt were really good prices so I ordered a couple of things The lady who runs it is really lovely so I recommend anyone to stop by and have a little look I am sure you might be tempted :-)  Mollysue Miniatures

Seaside goods shop

I had a little market stall I won on Ebay a while ago which I had made into a haberdashery stall to go with O'Rourkes but although it was quite sweet it just kept getting moved around and bits were always falling off so I decided to give it a makeover today and add it into the village as a seaside goods shop. I repainted it added some doors to the front and changed the fabric on the top and although it needs lots more stock it will now have a proper home in the village square area.

Making a start on a garden for the Angelas new cottage.

Today I started making a garden ready for when Angleas new cottage arrives. It will sit in the corner next to Captains Rest so I have a nice decent size space to play with. Thanks to the lovely Andy at my OH's work who cut me a piece of MDF today which was such a help so I could get started on it straight away. I decided to have a go at making a little bird table after looking at some on Ebay thought it couldn't be that difficult so had a go!  also made a little net bird feeder just to finish it off and its turned out not bad actually so I am pretty pleased and saved myself a few pounds which is always good! I also made a raised decking area which needs sanding a bit after the varnish drys so its not so glossy looking and will add some fencing around it. I have been saving egg boxes to make a flagstone path and I have an idea for some kind of rockery around the fishpond so will attempt to have a go at that will have to think of a plan B if it doesn't work! Have ordered some railway grass as I wanted something a bit more realistic than the grass carpet that you can buy it was only £2.20 so fingers crossed it looks the part!

FOR SALE - Crabpot cottage

Yesterday after a lot of thought Angela finally decided to put Crabpot cottage up for sale. She spent so many  months waiting for a house to come up for sale in Quayside but after living there for a short time she has come to the conclusion that she just has too much stuff and needs to move into something bigger, plus she misses terribly a nice long soak in the bath. Sadly there are no more building plots in the village so she must sell her beloved Crabpot to make room for her brand new house. It is already at the planning stages with the wonderful  JULIE BENNETT and building work is due to be started this weekend. She is very excited at the prospect of moving into her very own cottage designed especially for her and is busy searching for lovely new things to fill it. She is just hoping she finds a suitable buyer soon as bridging mortgages can be very expensive.

Fishing supplies shop needs a new owner!

Today I have shockingly spent pretty much the whole day up in 'Dollyland' making a little fishing supplies shop. It was a Christmas pressie from my better half and although its a bit small in scale its very cute and he thought it would go well in the village so seemed a shame not to make use of it.

It was already painted in a nice blue colour that would have been the easy part! for a start the instructions were all in Chinese and every little piece needed making up! even things like the ships wheel and lifebuoy clock were all separate parts and I very almost lost the will to carry on with it as it was so damn fiddly but I persevered and the overall result is not too bad. Its def on the small side so will sit at the back of the village green as if its in the distance. I renamed it after the name of the boat in one of the pictures Bethany and I made and its run by the same man Denzil Watkins although I don't own him just yet I am waiting for the right doll to come along!

Picture 3 is how it was supposed to look but I made a few adjustments as in I didn't make the chest you have no idea how many bits that was!!!

Happy New year and lots of Christmas mini'ing

Hope you all had a great Christmas and new Year! ours was mad busy with a house of 9 for 2 weeks but we really had the best Christmas ever!! we had a wonderful time and I was very sad yesterday to see everyone go especially my Mum I really do miss her!

Got a few DH bits for Christmas a lovely doll which you know about lol and a fab little rabbit and Bethany made me a sign for the spare room and a picture for the cafe which was was one off my favourite pressies!! I could just imagine her upstairs arranging all my villagers for the photo lol! Had lots of mini time with my Mum which was fab we had a great time giving the cafe refurb and making lots of things also gave me lots of ideas for future projects. Was sad to pack the Christmas fayre away I had great fun making that its a bit early to make a summer scene so just decided to make a snowy one for now! We had a change round of the houses in the corner they look much better now and I have nice area inbetween to make a garden. Captains Rest looks great with the boards up and a bit of Ivy added. I do have a really bad itch for a new cottage though I find Crabpot a bit small compared to all my others and am really debating on getting a lovely new cottage to go in that space!!

Mum and I escaped the chaos and sneaked off upstairs most days for a little play! I decided to give the cafe a refurb as it was a bit boring. The dresser was in a mixed lot of Sylvanian stuff and its drawers were missing so I made some draw fronts and painted it blue to look a bit more seasidey and then went with the red check theme to match in with the chairs. We also made the jars of jam, bunting, menus and pictures. I am really pleased how its turned out and it didn't cost me a penny apart form printer ink for all the signs and papers
