Welcome to Quayside my town by the seaside!
WELCOME TO QUAYSIDE MY TOWN BY THE SEASIDE
Thank you for visiting my blog and thanks even more if you decide to follow :-) I really do enjoying doing it and love to share my projects with you all! In the village at last count I had 18 houses, 14 little roombox size shops, 3 half houses, and 1 half church (half being just a front!) there's also 1 quarter of a house (just half of a front lol) 2 market stalls, 3 market carts and beach huts on the beach although theres always seems to be room for just one more!
I also have a my 1st house a traditional Victorian manor which is very special as it was bought with money left to me by my beloved Nan. There's also my witches house and a witches shop. I also have a lovely Honeychurch house which is my Christmas shop and house and my latest venture a little vintage cottage. But the bulk of my property empire is Quayside, my little Cornish seaside village full of lovely individual cottages and all its wonderful residents. This has become a real labour of love and has turned me from a Dolls house fan into a complete and utter addict! The links below will take you to each of my houses and I especially hope you enjoy your visit to Quayside :-)

Couldn't help myself!!!
I started with a couple of tiny paintwork touch ups but really nothing of note. Today I added the lights which make the biggest difference!!!
I painted the path that's outside as it was cream which didn't seem right as you could see it when the door was closed. The paintwork was all done so neatly though it was very easy to paint over!
I was thinking the rooms were quite small and wouldn't take much stuff. I was forgetting that things would go in the door to make up part of the room too! Its the perfect little setting for the table and chairs all set up for Christmas dinner!
Its so cosy with the lights on they make a massive difference!
The lounge is so cosy!! The tables need stained and needs some paper chains and little extras!
The counter and shelves will be stained to match the other bits of furniture
I will be creeping round Bethany to make me some signage!
I love the big window so you an see right in!
The trim on the front is a bit wonky and I am seriously considering taking it off but I know it will ruin the paintwork! Just not sure I can live with it lol!!
I do have a lovely DHE sleigh but its made of resin and very heavy! I decided it was best not to put that much weight on the door and used this one I got for 50p in a charity shop as it weighs next to nothing!
The elves will be working up in the attic. I plan to add a window either end so you can see in. Its a bit bare at the mo as Santa is busy manning the shop!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this house lol it has exactly that cosy Christmas feel I was so desperate for!

My new Honeychurch Christmas shop/house
I have to say I was nervous unpacking it lol its so hard to judge what something is really like from just a few photographs but it really was every bit as good as I hoped! Its such a lovely style and the detail on the opening doors makes it so different to anything else I have ever had!
I was kind of hoping it had wooden floors as I asked the seller what they were and she had said wood but from the pictures I did think it was wood effect paper which it was. Not to worry though its been nicely done and I can always change it at a later date if I feel the need!
The front shop window has come off enroute which is not really surprising as its quite heavy but to be honest I am going to give it a fresh coat of green paint so it makes it much easier to do and I will just glue back on afterwards!
The picture makes it look huge but actually its a very neat size as its not overly deep. Its made from ply too which means its really not too heavy which another bonus! There are so many nooks and crannies to fill its going to be so much fun!!
I love how you can fills the door with things!
This is the shop part which will be filled with all the Christmas goodies!
I think this will be Mrs Clauses kitchen!
This will be the bedroom
And this will be Santas office plus cosy lounge!
There is a rather lovely fireplace in here with a beautiful wire fire basket!
I knew the roof lifted off but I didn't know the seller had already painted it all and added the wood effect flooring.
This gives a huge extra space which will prob become the workshop with the elves etc.I will need to add some sort of window in the roof which scares me a bit but it will be worth it to be able to see it lit up through the window without having to take the roof off!
Lastly was this shelf unit that came with it that seems quite old so that will fit in somewhere If not in here in the Post Office!
Today I will be just stickling down odd bits of paper, adding some trims around the inside of the doors and just giving it a bit of a tidy up. There's really not much to do apart from add some lights and fill it up! I am so chuffed with it I love it!!!

A new Post Office, Mikes Music and a new hat!
things where I can so save some pennies!
I had a gentleman who was originally for the music shop but I changed my mind and decided to go for someone a bit younger in there. I decided Arty would be much more suited to the Antique shop. I thought he would look nice with a straw hat and I bought some hat straw ages ago so decided to have a bash. It was quite fiddly there was plenty of glue lol but the end result wasn't bad at all. I think I might get some other colours next time I go to the DH shop and make some more!
This shop needs a nice gentle owner like Arty! Its looking a bit bare I keep stealing things from it!
I also added an extra display unit in the china shop. When the Dolls house club ladies came Emily gave me a lovely little box of goodies and there some really nice bits of china. I decided to make a nice display and added a new light to show them off.
Wishes and Dishes was one of my very first shop concepts and its still one of my favourites!
The music shop is done to a point where I have something to show you now! I had a couple of barewood units so I stained them and put a few things on display. They need much more but will add them over time.
Mike has been promoted from Babs as he was just the sort of person I wanted to run the shop!
Oops glue string why do you never see them when you take the pic!! I made the little rack ready to be filled with a selection of records.
I love all the instruments they are so realistic! I got some from the dolls house shop and some a bit cheaper from Ebay to bulk it out a bit! They all come in the black boxes so decided to use those to make the display.
I do have a bit of a confession! Will get to that in a mo! Needless to say it means another ides for a new business! This time I decided the village really needed a Post Office. I already had a postman but couldn't really find a counter I liked and decided I couldn't really afford one anyway so it was out with the stripwood!
I am actually quite chuffed with it! The shop will sell gifts too so it will fit into the village nicely
I only had one bit of acetate which was a little scratched but I figured that's how an old PO counter would be over time! I have borrowed Sarah from the doctors as she looked the part as a Post Mistress!
I am sure I have some little wrapped parcels somewhere but can I find them??????
Confession time!! Of course a new business needs premises!! I had seen this for sale from Julie but dismissed it 20 times as I really don't have any room! The more I dismissed it the more I wanted it!! I came to the conclusion that if I extended the shelf a little bit I could jus about squeeze it in, literally!!!
I just love the finish and the chimney its different to my other little shops. I think it will make a perfect Village Post Office!
It was called Sea View which sadly I have had to change as I already have my Sea view cottage , so it will be Sea breeze cottage!
This week is going to be a good Dolls house week! The new cottage should arrive on Thursday and my big Honeychurch house is being collected on Wednesday and will prob arrive Saturday so although I know I shouldn't I am wishing the week to go quickly!!!

New dollies and a new house!
I do have so new dollies to show you though!! I do love new people in the village every one is a new character and I can never have enough!!
First up is Dorothy a new WI lady. She is serving up the tea for the rest of the ladies although Elsie is already on the sherry!
Next is Thora who is getting a shampoo and set in the hairdresser's
Lynda is just making sure the hairnet is neatly in place!
Thora is enjoying her cup of tea and gossip mag!
I love this scene, its so much more fun now there are some people in it!
Then we have Stanley who runs the dolls house shop.
He is busy building a dolls house for a new customer!
And last but not least is Arty. Today I made him a straw hat, not bad for a first attempt!
He was planned to go in the music shop but I thought he looked more like one of those antiques dealers on bargain hunt so he's now residing in the junk shop instead!
I have also bought a new house!! I wasn't convinced the Christmas one was really right it was just a little too modern inside and I am rubbish at changing them as its right for the house and I don't want to spoil them!. I spotted this lovely Honeychurch shop on Ebay and it was a great price. Its all decorated in red and green perfect for a Christmas theme! Its still in the packing stages as the lady kindly agreed to pack it up for a courier and finding a box that big is never easy so I am more than happy to be patient!
Lastly I picked up this months copy of The Dolls House magazine and it came with a free book. Its a great read with loads of good pictures and although the mag was £4.75 I thought that was a good price for both!
