Welcome to Quayside my town by the seaside!

Thank you for visiting my blog and thanks even more if you decide to follow :-) I really do enjoying doing it and love to share my projects with you all! In the village at last count I had 18 houses, 14 little roombox size shops, 3 half houses, and 1 half church (half being just a front!) there's also 1 quarter of a house (just half of a front lol) 2 market stalls, 3 market carts and beach huts on the beach although theres always seems to be room for just one more!

I also have a my 1st house a traditional Victorian manor which is very special as it was bought with money left to me by my beloved Nan. There's also my witches house and a witches shop. I also have a lovely Honeychurch house which is my Christmas shop and house and my latest venture a little vintage cottage. But the bulk of my property empire is Quayside, my little Cornish seaside village full of lovely individual cottages and all its wonderful residents. This has become a real labour of love and has turned me from a Dolls house fan into a complete and utter addict! The links below will take you to each of my houses and I especially hope you enjoy your visit to Quayside :-)

A date for Harry - meet Katy!

I really quite enjoy making the dolls from Fimo so as I had a bit left I though I would make a lady so that the new fisherman Harry had someone to take out on a nice date!

Shes turned out a bit better than my last effort at a lady who even now Bethany insists on calling Gaga and singing hello hello baby everytime she sees her! Her arms are a little on the long side and I need to make the hands a bit smaller but considering she only the 4th doll I've ever made I don't think shes too bad! Her hair is better this time and I think the eyes are getting a little better too lots of practice needed still but getting there!

Shes called Katy as as soon as I dressed her she totally reminded me of a lovely friend I met when I worked at Waterstones. Now she is immortalised in the village, I hope she doesn't mind lol!

Harry's taken quite a shine to her already, although shes not quite nervous here at the first meeting!

She soon warms to his friendly Cornish banter!

They are getting on like a house on fire now!

They started out the evening with a nice romantic meal at Luigis Bistro.......

Then it was off to the Fishermans Rest for a few drinks.......

They were finally spotted booking into the B & B! Maddie is very dicreet and didn't ask any questions, but naughty Harry you will be topic of lots of gossip tomorrow!!

I made another doll!...Meet Harry my new fisherman!

Decided to have another go at making a doll last night! So this is Harry my new fisherman!!! Here is how he started out! Just some fimo a cork and some pipecleaners! I really need to get some proper wire but the furry pipe cleaners work quite well and they provide some padding. I just double them up so they are stronger. Need to get my other half on the wine more often as the cork is a great body lol its just the right size!  he took me about 3 hours last night and at one point I got stroppy and scrunched all the clay up and had to start again! But I'm pleased at how he turned out.

And here he is all painted and bearded with his clothes on!! Have to say a huge thanks to Deb who knits the jumpers and hats as they are just fab!!!!

I'm still not so good at the eyes yet, I def need more practice but he looks friendly and human so thats a start lol!!

Bobs dog Barney seems to like him so thats a good sign!

This is a little dark but I love the table showing in the background in Lavender Cottage.

All he needs now is a fishing rod with a nice big fish on it so that will be todays project!!!

New residents in Quayside!

A couple of new residents have just arrived in Quayside!

Theres a wizard who had such a lovely face I just couldn't resist him and I just love him! He doesn't have a name yet so I am open to any suggestions!!

He's busy working in the witches shop at the mo while they take some time off!

He looks very at home here I think he may have to stay!

Next to arrive was Marilyn! Shes the new barmaid at the Captains Rest pub. shes already proving very popular with the locals! There's already been a rise in the takings!

 She has some great shoes!!

Hard at work already giving the customers what they want.....beer!

Shes very friendly and the villagers have already taken a shine to her!

A bit of bunting!

I love bunting so much and have some in nearly all of my houses and today I decided to make some in full size to add to the Upper Quayside shelf. I used some nice pin k ribbon and all my mini print fabrics but didn't make it too small or you wouldn't be able to see it!

A harbour especially for Bob!

I had a nice little space in front of Lavender Cottage and where the mdf was a bit higher it had a step down and made me think it would make a great little harbour for Fisherman Bob to put his boat in! I raided the outbuilding where we keep all the firewood and found a nice thin piece of ply that I then cut to size. I used the brightest blue I could find! It is Cornwall after all so a lovely blue sea is a must! I made the harbour wall from bits of wood and stone effect vinyl flooring. I made the jetty from another bit of wood and added some shells washed in by the tide. Lastly I sponged on some lighter blue paint and am undecided whether or not to just add a coat of clear varnish just to make it a bit shinier. I had thought about using some scenic water but its quite a big area and would prob need a couple of tubs which is quite expensive so won't do that at the mo. I managed to make it just low enough that I can open both doors of the cottage without having to move it.

Fisherman Bob is sorting his nets..............

.........and Barney is waiting on the jetty watching guard over the lobster pot!

Added a bit of rope to tether Bobs boat which I picked up from the beach by the caravan.

And of course a Quayside lifebuoy!

Quite pleased how it turned out considering the total cost was free! :-)

All lit up!!! and doggies who don't want to miss out!

Its taken a whole day pretty much but finally have all my lights connected up! Lindsay moved the shelf down for me and he never complained once lol! Had to fill and paint the old holes and fill and paint around the brackets as the fixings need a big hole and it was just slightly wider than the bracket. Stained my shelves too so that's another job done! Once I had finished all the boring stuff I could finally start getting everything connected up. It almost went to plan apart from one dodgy extension lead which blew a couple of fuses and did I have any...nope!! remembered I had some in the Victorian house and the witches cottage front so have stolen those for now. Then once everything was finally lit a bulb went in the new blue cottage so changed that crossing my fingers it was only a bulb but it was!

It seems to have taken forever to get it all sorted but now I will finally be able to start making some bits and pieces again, at my new desk!! :-)

Here is Quayside all lit up!

I took some more photos now it all is laid out properly and connected up. I think if gives a better perspective on the U-shape they are displayed in. They didn't look so bad spread out upstairs but together it does look a lot lol! It really feels like a village now! Just need to get the curtain done and then I've got to decide what to do with the mdf whether to paint it or not, whatever I decide its going to be a big job!

I love that there's now enough space on the shelf to add some interest in between the shops!

Couldn't resist a few photos of my doggies. They are a nightmare! We were in Dollyland so that meant they all had to be in Dollyland ha ha!!

Maya and Sandy got the beanbags......

 Snoopy got the chair!

Maya is always there when I am in there shes my little cuddly lump of fluffiness although she had a haircut this week so not quite as fluffy!
