Welcome to Quayside my town by the seaside!

WELCOME TO QUAYSIDE MY TOWN BY THE SEASIDE

Thank you for visiting my blog and thanks even more if you decide to follow :-) I really do enjoying doing it and love to share my projects with you all! In the village at last count I had 18 houses, 14 little roombox size shops, 3 half houses, and 1 half church (half being just a front!) there's also 1 quarter of a house (just half of a front lol) 2 market stalls, 3 market carts and beach huts on the beach although theres always seems to be room for just one more!

I also have a my 1st house a traditional Victorian manor which is very special as it was bought with money left to me by my beloved Nan. There's also my witches house and a witches shop. I also have a lovely Honeychurch house which is my Christmas shop and house and my latest venture a little vintage cottage. But the bulk of my property empire is Quayside, my little Cornish seaside village full of lovely individual cottages and all its wonderful residents. This has become a real labour of love and has turned me from a Dolls house fan into a complete and utter addict! The links below will take you to each of my houses and I especially hope you enjoy your visit to Quayside :-)

Magic potions and balls of wool!

I have always wanted a pot of magic potion but never worked out how to do it. I know it can be done with scenic water but I saw Joann Swansons great witchy vignette on her blog today and decided to have a go the way she suggested! Its not bad lol Luckily Bethany had some nail varnish the perfect colour green and I had some green glitter to add some magic sparkle. I also added a little fire underneath with some driftwood twigs, a red sequin cut to a flame shame and a dash of red glitter.

I really need to leave it to dry for ages as theres a lot of nail varnish in the pot! But patience of a flea as ever I just couldn't wait to see it in place in the witches cottage!! It looks great fun and pleased I decided to have a go now! :-)

I needed some balls of wool for my little wool shop and found an online Tutorial that showed you how to make them! It was easier than I thought, just needed a straw and a large needle so decided to have a go as my good friend Deb had sent me all her odd bits of wool she couldn't use. They are a little bit small I really need some Mcdonalds straws which a bit bigger than normal ones and the labels could be a bit fancier next time but for a first attempt they aren't bad, but not really good enough to display lol so have just made these ones into an odds and ends box.

Tea / hot water urn for the hall!

I was thinking of things to fill up the kitchen in the village hall and decided a tea / hot water urn would be good for the WI ladies. Theres not many available and they tend to be quite expensive so thought I would have a go at making one from a little bin I had! Fiddled about with it a bit chopping and gluing bits! Added some feet, a tap and a sign and I think its turned out ok.

I also added a sign as we all know what councils are like!

Mary is testing it out and confirms it makes a lovely cup of tea!

Little changes!

No major news in Quayside at the mo just a few new pieces and some little changes.

First up a cute little trimmings shelf. I just saw it and thought it would fill the gap on the wall nicely.

Hetty has left Quayside Home Stores to work in the sewing Patch. She is now manager so it was a step up and shes enjoying being her own boss!

I had a little move about in the 1st floor of Quayside home stores as I had moved out some of the things to the Sewing Patch.

My good friend Deb sent me another one of her gorgeous quilts which are so pretty and really add a splash of colour.

I got these little mugs from Ebay ages ago and forgot all about them. I thought mugs with names on are just the kind of things you find in a seaside shop!

I was lucky enough to get another green chair for the hairdressers just in case I ever decide to expand!

I couldn't resist a cute little basket which is just purrfect for Angela's cat Marmalade. She is curled up keeping warm by the Aga.

I have added a few odd and ends to the witches shop. I took out the pumpkin light for the Halloween party,  it wasn't really bright enough anyway. Now there is a candle light on the table which lights the whole shop much better. Fangus is back in his cage keeping the wizard company as he works. He also has the little rabbit and his trusty black cat.

I took all the stuff to fill the witches shop from the witches house which has left it a little bare! It was good to bring the sink and cooker down to the ground floor but I need to add some more shelves full of jars to fill it back up again! I don't do bare ha ha!!

I just bought a few more little crosstitch cushions from June off Ebay as they were so cute and as is often the way the witchy spooky things are only available around the Halloween time so its a good time to stock up on them!

I do love a door curtain and have quite a few dotted around my houses. you will see one I added to the witches house above and I got a couple from Ebay last week. Theres nice brightly coloured one for Navids shop!

And a red white and blue one I thought matched the colours in the holiday let

I bought this one a while ago from Dean designs. I had intended on it going in Porthole in the dining room to imply a door to the kitchen but sadly it was too long. So I have put in on Seashells door as it matched all the pastel colours well.

Thats it for now! The new shop is well under way and with some lovely ideas from Julie I know its going to be fabulous! Its supposed to be a Christmas pressie but I know there is no way I can wait that long lol!! As soon as I know its done I will want to start filling it up so I don't hold out much hope of it lasting boxed up til then!

Getting the party started and another shelf!

Well Bethany is back after a nice weekend with her friends and after stealing my camera she never even used it!! Couldn't wait to get it back and show you all the things I have done over the past couple of days!

I finished of the mobile disco on Friday and yesterday decided to do a stage for it to sit on. I had in my head it should have velvet curtains but I didn't have any suitable fabric. So yesterday  it was off round the charity shops on the lookout for an old cushions cover or something similar. I ended up with a pillow case for 50p which was perfect and the fabric was that bit thinner so hung down better. I cut a couple of bits of wood, one for the base of the stage and one to hang the curtains from. I painted the top one black and made a hole to thread the lights through. I had a funky red light which really lights the stage up well and with a few coloured fairy lights it looks much more like a disco!

Timmy is having a run through and checking everything works ok in preparation for the grand opening Halloween party!

Really pleased with how Timmy's Tunes mobile disco turned out. You would never know it used to be a mahogany sink unit lol!

I also have a nice new kitchen in the village hall. It was a bit of a bargain from Ebay and I am really pleased with it. It needs lots of things adding to fill it up as its far to bare for me at the mo lol!!

Lindsay also put my new shelf up for me not one of his favourite jobs lol!!! I didn't go for anything too big as I just wanted a little area to put the market on. I still need to redo 2 of the barrows but you can get the idea! Of course by adding that its given me a nice little space for just one more shop so watch this space!! :-)

Lifeboat cottage sign

Not much to show you today as Bethany has gone up to the caravan with her friends for a girly weekend and shes stolen my camera! So all I have are a few photos I took yesterday!

As you know Lifeboat Cottage is my newest property but it needed a name plague. Of course I had to ask Julie Lawton who has made all my others and it arrived yesterday. Its a little different to my others as its square but its quite fabulous and looks perfect on the building.

I have also been busy getting the party ready in the village hall. I decided I needed a mobile disco and couldn't think what I could use to make it. I then found an old sink my friend Scarlett had given me and looking at it I thought I could maybe do something with that!

Last night I took the sink part out and added a wooden top. removed all the drawers and the door. I then gave it a coat of black acrylic paint although I didn't notice all the bits I'd missed til I saw the photo lol have now touched these bits in! I gave the top part a coat of silver paint. It looks a bit rubbish here lol but the end result is very different! I've now finished it all off but sadly can't show you as no camera but will get some pics up soon! really pleased with it how it turned out and with Timmy spinning his tunes the villagers are going to have a rocking Halloween party!!

More new arrivals in the village!

There has been a lot of new arrivals in Quayside in the past few weeks! Business is booming and the place is always busy so people are moving in from near and far!!

The new residents to arrive today are....

Stan the seafood man. He did come with a red apron but I thought that made him look a little like a butcher so I made him a blue one. I also made his hat as the one he came with was sadly too small for him! Hes doing very well with his seafood stall! All  the residents and visitors do like their fresh cockles and muscles!

Next up is the postie. No name as yet going to I am going to ask my real postie tomorrow what his name is as he always jokes when I get a big parcel 'I thought the last one was the last one??'!! Fingers crossed he's got a good one lol!!

The town crier was originally a mayor but I already had a mayor so Bernadette the lady I buy them from on Ebay kindly changed him into a town crier instead. He.s busy letting everyone know the party in the hall will be starting soon!

Theres also a new member of the WI. Shes Mary and doesn't give a jot what anyone thinks about anything she just likes to go with the flo! She says shes old to know better and to old to care! Shes definitely not your typical WI member but she goes along for the cake!

Next up are a new couple who have taken over the village store. Anyone Scottish that reads my blog will probably  know a programme called Still Game and we are big fans! Our favourite character is Navid (pronounced Naveed) who runs the shop. So I had my very own Navid and his wife Meena made for my shop. They raised a few eyebrows when they first arrived as Quaysiders are very wary of any new 'outsiders' moving in, but they have already settled in well and have made lots of friends!
